I break the journey from Jaipur and get down at Ajmer instead of staying on to Pushkar because the Jain temple closes early.

We visit the Jain museum, where there is an entire city made of gold. We are not allowed into the main temple because it is reserved for Jain worshippers, but we insist enough to at least get a look from outside.

From Ajmer we continue on to Pushkar for a few hours before coming back in the evening.

On the way back we stop at Seven Wonder Park. The real highlight, though, is the sunset over the lake with the hills behind it.

We then head to the dargah sharif through lively, brightly lit streets. It is DS’s first time at a dargah. On the way back our slippers are gone, so we walk barefoot to the auto and replace my stolen Birkenstock dupes with a fresh pair of Nike slide dupes from a local footwear shop.

I also try a mawa kachori, only to realise too late that the whole thing is sweet and too heavy for dinner.

I board the train to Udaipur, only to realise I accidentally booked sleeper instead of AC and will be freezing through the night.
